Dehradun: DAV Inter-College clinched the District Level Girl’s Open Hockey Tournament trophy here today. The tournament was organised by the District Sports Authority on the occasion of National Sports Day here.

DAV Inter-College defeated Welham Girls’ School 7-0.

Mamta scored highest four goals while Pooja scored three goals for the winning team. Chief guest Dhirendra Singh Chauhan, who is the vice-president of the Uttarakhand Traditional Games, gave away prizes to the players.

Amrit Pal Singh, SK Sarki, Dinesh Aswal, Aditya Sharma, Khadag Bahadur Thapa and other dignitaries were present on the occasion.

In the sub-junior boys’ final, Oak Grove School defeated Yuva Sports Club 3-2 and won the trophy. In the junior division final, RN Bhargav Inter College defeated Taj Sports 7-4. In the senior boys’ division, Yuva A team defeated Yuva B 5-2 and in the sub junior division girls’ final, Oak Grove School emerged champions through league rankings.

Chief guest former Mussoorie MLA Jot Singh Gunsola gave away citation and awards to the winners. Speaking on the occasion he said the state government would be gifting a multipurpose stadium at Bhilaru to the sporting fraternity of the town.
