Common Admission Test (CAT) 2016 held in December across India and on Monday, they were elated to have the results declared unexpectedly by afternoon, many of them received the results on their mobiles. One of our Uttarakhand state student, Somesh, has scored 99.99 percentile becoming the top-most scorer in the state. Besides him, Uttarakhand have 9 more students who have scored 99 plus percentile in the state. Earlier there used to be only IIT students who managed to excel but now it is heartening to see that the trend of performing well is catching up so much so that there are youngsters from other institutes across Uttarakhand like Pantnagar University, UPES and NIT Srinagar who are scoring very high percentiles.”

He added, “Many of the top scorers are girls, which is quite promising. Students must however now start preparations for group discussion and final interviews to be selected in the top league management institutes”

When we contacted 22 year old, Somesh Lohani, who by evening emerged to be the top-most scorer in the state having scored 99.99 percentile and is pursuing mechanical engineering from Pantnagar in the final year, Somesh Lohani told NU, “I started preparations early in January and I made it a point to diligently study for three hours daily and not skip that routine. Discipline can take anybody a long way”

One of student from Doon, Rishi Sood having bagged 97.08 percentile has already got a call from IIM Ahmedabad and Bangalore while our another student-Sonakshi from IIT Roorkee is the likely girls state topper. While our student, Paritosh Kumar from DIT Dehradun also bagged 99.31 percentile. More students excelled in CAT results this year”

Sonakshi Singh from IIT Roorkee who bagged 99.88 percentile in CAT results,
said, “Girls performing exceptionally in an examination like CAT which of course is hard to crack indicates that times are changing and girls can do absolutely anything they set out for. I feel blessed that my hard work paid off. Anybody in fact can perform great with consistent efforts. I hope to get calls from the top IIMs”

An estimated 5,000 students appeared in the highly-competitive Common Admission Test (CAT) 2016 on December 4 in the state. About 1.95 lakh candidates took the test across India and on January 9, only 20 candidates could manage a perfect 100 percentile but many in Uttarakhand came close.
